Aims of the OLJ Australia Foundation

The purpose of the foundation is to pursue, promote and advance any charitable purpose including the following (but only to the extent that they are charitable):

• To give and succour to the sick, needy, aged, infirmed maimed, mentally ill, imprisoned and socially disadvantaged;
• To promote and assist education in hospital care and administration, nursing and first aid;
• To establish and promote aid and assistance to, and to promote the work of, hospitals, medical centres and institutions for the treatment of human ills of every kind;
• To promote and assist in any other charitable object of the Order; and
• The Foundation will establish and maintain the work that, in time, should enable it to provide a level of financial support in the event of national disaster or tragedy when assistance is needed to relieve suffering.

History of the OLJ Australia Foundation

During the visit of the late Grand Master of the Military and Hospitaller Order of Saint Lazarus of Jerusalem, HE Carlos Gereda y de Borbón – recommended the Australian Grand Priory investigate the establishment of a significantly funded charitable foundation along the lines of the in jurisdictions around the world including Europe.

Following three years of planning, on 31 May 2013 Lady Potter AC CRMI settled $1,000 upon the establishment of the Order of Saint Lazarus of Jerusalem Australia Foundation (OLJ Australia Foundation), which is a company established to act as Trustee of the Order of Saint Lazarus of Jerusalem Australia, is a registered charitable organisation.
